Rules for checking garment quality

M

Quality Control (QC) in Garments is an important process, which is helpful in ensuring the quality of the manufactured product or clothing. There are some general rules for quality control in the garment industry, which are given below:

Material Check: The quality of all raw materials or fabrics used to make the product is checked. Material check includes checking the raw material for defects, stains, flaws, etc.

Monitoring at Production Stage: Quality is checked at various stages of production. Such as, cutting, stitching, packaging, etc.

Pattern and Design Check: The pattern and design of the product must be as per the required standards. Any kind of unevenness or correctness is checked.

Finishing Check: After the garment is made, the quality is checked while giving the final finishing touch. For example, whether the buttons, zippers, labels are attached correctly, whether there are any defects.

Fitting Check: The fitting of the finished garment is checked, so that it is of the correct size and shape.

Final Inspection: Once the product is finished, quality checks are carried out at the very final stage. Any blemishes, defects or damage are identified.

Packaging and Labeling: Proper labeling, branding, and packaging conformity are checked while packaging the product.

Sample Check: Garment companies usually check one or two product samples to ensure the quality of the entire batch.

Testing and Reporting: Various physical and chemical tests (e.g., sewing strength, color fastness, temperature resistance) are carried out and the results are reported.

Garment companies ensure the quality of their products by following these rules.
