University College London settled a £21 million lawsuit with students. They claimed an inferior education due to Covid-19. Each of the 6,000 students will receive around £3,270. This UK settlement is significantly larger than similar payouts in the United States.
University College London (UCL) has finalized a major £21 million settlement. The university agreed to compensate over 6,000 students who experienced a lower quality education during the Covid-19 pandemic. This amount translates to approximately $26 million US dollars. Each student is expected to receive about £3,270, roughly $4,100. This UK settlement stands out, far exceeding compensation levels seen in similar US cases. For example, Penn State had a notable settlement, but it wasn't as large. The UCL agreement highlights contrasting approaches to tuition disputes stemming from pandemic disruptions to higher education.
