X moves US creator payouts onto X Money

US creators on X will now receive Original Content Rewards and subscription payouts through X Money, not Stripe. The money can arrive as soon as it is sent. Creators outside the United States stay on Stripe for now.

Faster access is useful when the work has to wait on money. Under the old Stripe path, payouts ran about every two weeks, and there was a thirty dollar minimum. X Money is meant to put the payout in reach as soon as it is sent, with no wait for a billing cycle.

X said this change is required for people in the United States. The announcement does not name another way to receive those earnings. Creators in other countries remain on Stripe.

This sits next to other program changes. X will retire Creator Revenue Sharing on 7 September. Creators are being moved toward Original Content Rewards, which puts more weight on original work. X Money is not a bank. The accounts are held at Cross River Bank. X will issue a 1099-NEC for these payouts, and it will collect W-9 details for LLCs so the forms are accurate.

The work can stay the same while the route to the money moves. Some creators will be comfortable with that. Others will still want the writing and the audience in a place they can keep, even if a payout still uses Stripe. A list of readers and a copy of the work can sit in a place you keep, even when the payout rail belongs to someone else.
