Journal Faces Backlash for Omitting Pfizer Flu Data on Seniors

The New England Journal of Medicine faces criticism for not publishing data on Pfizer's mRNA flu shot in older adults. Reports show the vaccine offered little benefit to adults aged 18 to 64, with notable harms.

A major medical journal is drawing sharp criticism after it failed to release important trial data on Pfizer's mRNA flu vaccine. The missing information covers older adults, the group most at risk from the flu. Experts say this omission leaves doctors and the public without full facts about the shot's performance.

The data that did appear showed the vaccine gave almost no real protection to adults between 18 and 64 years old. Side effects also appeared more common than first reported. Without the senior results, questions remain about how well the product works in the people who need it most.

The episode has renewed calls for full transparency in vaccine research. Journals are expected to share all findings so the public can trust the science. Leaving out key results from high-risk groups only adds to doubts about the process.
