Lockdowns: A Disaster We Must Never Forgive

C

Six years after the start of the 15 days to slow the spread policy, experts call it one of history's worst disasters. It ignored all prior plans and relied on false reports from China. The damage cannot be forgotten or forgiven.

We are now nearing the six year mark since governments launched the 15 days to slow the spread policy. This approach ranks as one of the most harmful decisions in modern times. Officials ignored years of careful planning documents and chose a new path without good reason.

The idea came from early and inaccurate reports out of China. Those claims said strict lockdowns had stopped the virus completely. In truth the reports hid key facts and gave a false picture of success. Leaders rushed to copy the model anyway.

The results brought lasting harm to health, schools, and the economy around the world. Such a costly mistake must stay in public memory. We cannot allow leaders to repeat it without facing clear judgment.
